Ernest Robert - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ernie Gyori, of Otterville, at Sakura House, Woodstock on Sunday May 24, 2015 at the age of 68. Beloved husband of 46 years to Shirley. Cherished son of Mary David Gyori and the late Peter Gyori. Dear brother of Mary Anne Gyori, and Peter (Belinda) Gyori. Beloved son-in-law of Lloyd and Fleda Chipps. Also survived by brothers-in-law Gary (Lois) Chipps and Keith (Connie) Chipps, and sister-in-law Nancy (Wayne) Drummond. Uncle to Meredith (JP) Riches, Craig (Tara) Chipps, Deanna and Matthew Drummond, and Colleen Gyori. Great uncle to Emerson and Madison Riches, and Aubrey and Macey Chipps. Ernie enjoyed his teaching career at Norwich Public School from 1969 - 1978, then at Rolph Street School in Tillsonburg from 1979 - 2000. He loved gardening, fishing, and antiques buying and selling. His collection of local artifacts was his pride and joy. He was always interested in local history, and was a member of the South Norwich Historical Society. Ernie had a great affection for the community of Otterville, and was always pleased to call it home. Friends will be received at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020 on Monday June 1, 2015 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service to honour Ernie's life will be held at Otterville United Church on Tuesday June 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Judi Restemeyer officiating. Private interment to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to VON Sakura House, Otterville United Church, South Norwich Historical Society, or St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
