Peacefully, with family by her side on March 3, 2019 in her 89th year. Beloved wife for 66 years to the late Bill Smith (2018). Loving mother of Matthew and his wife Louise of Port Dover, Reid and his wife Kim of Chatham and Liz of Norwich. Proud grandmother of Kurt, Nick, Craig (Jordan), Aaron, Kelly and Alexis. Adoring great-grandmother (G-G) of Brynlee, Rosemary, Warner and Crew. A proud supporter of the community and known for seeing through any task she started, Helen was always willing to help where she could. She started the swimming lessons at the Otterville pool, was a long-time member of the curling club and served for many years on Township council, the last three as Oxford County’s first (and to date only) female Warden. Always ready with a joke, her quick wit will be missed by all who knew her. Family and friends will be received at the ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main Street West, Norwich, ON 519-863-3020, on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 12:30 – 1:45 PM. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2 PM. Cremation will have taken place. Donations in memory of Helen, may be made to the St. John's Anglican Church (Otterville), VON – Sakura House or the Woodstock General Hospital-Palliative Care.
