Ruth Jean - At Woodstock Hospital on Wednesday July 22, 2015, Ruth Cohoe, formerly of Burgessville, at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late Fred Cohoe (1979). Loving mother of Leigh, Lynne, Dan and wife Karen McSpadden, all of Burgessville, and Liz and Mark Davis of Nelson BC. She will be sadly missed by her 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Survived by sister-in-law Belle Palmer and many nieces and nephews who spent a great deal of time with her in their youth. Predeceased by brother Rettie Palmer. Ruth grew up in Norwich Ontario, graduated from MacDonald Institute (University of Guelph) and went on to the London Normal School where she trained for a career as a teacher. She was fondly remembered by her students from the school where she taught on Culloden Road near Ingersoll. On her marriage to Fred Cohoe, she became a strong and vital partner in the family farming business. Her family benefited greatly from her support and from her excellent cooking skills. Ruth was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Mission Circle at Burgessville Baptist Church and a friend of the Norwich and District Historical Society. She was honoured with a lifetime membership in recognition of her contributions to the Society. Friends will be received at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020 on Thursday July 30, 2015 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service to honour Ruth's life will be held at Burgessville Baptist Church on Friday July 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lola Mather-Dyer officiating. Interment to follow at New Durham Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Woodstock Hospital Foundation or Norwich Historical Society.
