Obituary for Viola Isabel SUTHERLAND
VIOLA ISABEL SUTHERLAND (NEE SMITH)
1927 - 2023
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Viola Isabel Sutherland (nee Smith). Very suddenly on Saturday, March 11, 2023 we lost Viola in her 96th year. We take comfort in knowing that she did not suffer, passing very quickly.
Beloved mother to Linda Hearns, Nancy (Bob) Hall, Wayne (Sylvia) Longthorne, Mary (Garry) Kocher, Don Longthorne and Evelyn (Steve) Nobbs. Cherished grandmother of 11 and Great Grandmother of 14.
Predeceased by husbands William Clair Longthorne (1977) and James F. Sutherland (2011), son Kenneth Clair Longthorne (2019) and grandson Jason Richard Hearns (2013). Viola will be dearly missed by nieces, nephews and daughter-in-law Deb Longthorne.
Viola was the most loving, kind and caring person. Before being affected by dementia, if Viola knew you, she never missed sending you a birthday or anniversary card. She was always ready to help anyone who needed help with arrands, bringing meals, picking up their mail or making sure someone had a ride to church.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and enjoyed babysitting others after her children where grown. She was always the nurturer!
Family and friends will be received at the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home, 45 Main Street West, Norwich, ON, on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 12:30 -1:45 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home, at 2 pm. Janice Pow to officiate.
Spring interment at the Norwich Cemetery. Donations in memory of Viola, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Oxford or the Canadian Cancer Society, would be appreciated.
