W. Beverley "Bev" Avey - Softly and tenderly Jesus called Bev, his faithful servant, home on Friday January 9, 2015 in his 97th year. Beloved husband of 66 years to Ena (Saunders) Avey. Loving father of John (Christiane), Joanne VanDyk (late John), and Janet DeCloet (Paul). Gramps to Kelly Gubesch (Al), Kyle VanDyk (Tracie), Kevin VanDyk (Abby), and Justine DeCloet (Mike). Choo Choo Gramps to Kate, Michael, Mitchell, Stefan, Quinn, and Macy. Dear brother-in-law of Meta Avey (late Clarence), Phyllis McGee (Ike), Donna Saunders (late Jack), Bud Saunders (Dona), and Helen Saunders (late Bill). Survived by several nieces and nephews. Bev was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Predeceased by parents James and Charlotte, brothers Kendrick (Ev), Douglas (Marion), Clarence (Meta), and Russell, and by sisters Marguerite, Pauline, and Phyllis (Stacey). Also predeceased and loved by many of the Saunders clan. Bev retired from the Ministry of Transportation after 35 years. He was proud to call Norwich his home and enjoyed supporting the local hockey and baseball teams. Nothing gave him greater joy than his family and supporting the many activities of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was their greatest fan! Resting at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020 on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday January 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Anglican Church, Otterville. Interment Norwich Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Anglican Church or Norwich Minor Hockey Association. "A life well lived and a man well loved."
